FORD ANNOUNCES MODEST U.S. PRICE INCREASE

DEARBORN, Mich., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for selected Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) 1993-model U.S. cars and light trucks will be increased by an average of 0.4 percent -- or $68 -- effective immediately.
Explaining the price increases, Robert L. Rewey, vice president - Marketing and Sales Operations, Ford North American Automotive Operations, said: "For some time, Ford purposely has held the line on vehicle pricing. The company's total U.S. pricing for 1993 models is modest.
"Including today's action, prices for our 1993-model U.S. cars are up an average of 1.1 percent and light trucks are up an average of 3.6 percent."
Eight vehicle lines -- Ford Escort, Crown Victoria, Aerostar van, Aerostar wagon, Mercury Capri, Grand Marquis, Villager and Lincoln Continental -- are excluded from this action.
Prices of Ford Festiva, Tempo, Mustang, Probe, Ranger and Mercury Tracer and Topaz are increased by $50; Ford Thunderbird, Taurus (excluding SHO), Explorer, Bronco, Econoline, most models of F-Series, Mercury Cougar and Sable rise $100; Lincoln Town Car and Mark VIII go up $150.
Mr. Rewey added, "Ford's U.S. cars and light trucks continue to provide outstanding customer value as recent sales results indicate. For the 1993 model year to date, Ford has three of the top four and six of the top 11 best selling vehicles in America."
