 FORD ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENTS
 DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Louis R. Ross has been


named executive vice president - Chief Technical Officer for Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) effective Oct. 1.
 In this new position, Mr. Ross will have worldwide responsibility for the company's technical developments and expertise in both the product and the manufacturing process. He also will have responsibility for the worldwide Automotive Components Group, which operates 51 wholly owned or joint venture manufacturing facilities in 13 countries.
 His new responsibilities also include overseeing the development and launch of the new mid-sized cars that the company's European and North American Automotive Operations are jointly planning for manufacture and sale in both Europe and North America, and for export to other markets. This new product program is the largest and most comprehensive in the company's history.

 Mr. Ross will be succeeded as executive vice president - International Automotive Operations by W. Wayne Booker, vice president - Asia Pacific Automotive Operations, based in Tokyo. Mr. Booker is succeeded by Robert P. Sparvero, who was elected a company officer by the Board of Directors and who formerly was general manager - Ford North American Automotive Operations Export Sales. Mr. Booker was the first head of Ford's Asia-Pacific operations to be based in Tokyo and earlier headed the company's Latin American Automotive Operations. Mr. Sparvero most recently has been responsible for selling Ford's North American vehicles in overseas markets, including those in Japan and other parts of Asia.

 LOUIS R. ROSS -- Born March 23, 1932, in Detroit. Received bachelor's degree from Wayne State University and master's degree from Michigan State University. Joined Ford in 1955 as a research engineer. Named Thunderbird product planning manager in 1963. Became quality control manager for General Parts Division in 1967. Named manager of Saline (Mich.) Parts Plant in 1968 and chief engineer for General Parts Division in 1969. Became general manager of Industrial and Chemical Products Division in 1972, and a year later became general manager of Industrial Engine and Turbine Division. Elected vice president of Ford Brazil in 1973. Elected a company vice president May 8, 1975. Appointed executive vice president - Ford Diversified Products Operations April 1977. Appointed executive vice president - Car Product Development Group, North American Automotive Operations, September 1979. Named executive vice president - Technical Staffs January 1983. Became executive vice president - Operations, North American Automotive Operations, Oct. 19, 1984. Elected a member of the Board of Directors and named executive vice president - North American Automotive Operations Feb. 1, 1985. Named executive vice president - International Automotive Operations May 1, 1989.
 W. WAYNE BOOKER -- Born Aug. 28, 1934, in Sullivan, Ind. Received bachelor of science degree in economics from Purdue University. Joined Ford in 1959 as cost analyst with Ford Division. Held finance positions with Automotive Assembly Division and Finance Staff before becoming finance director for Ford of Mexico in 1971 and finance director for Latin American Operations in 1974. Named Engine Division controller in 1977, assistant controller of North American Automotive Operations in 1978, and assistant controller of International Automotive Operations in 1981. Appointed director - president of Ford of Brazil in 1986 and director - executive vice president of Autolatina Limitada, holding company for Ford's joint venture with Volkswagen in Brazil and Argentina, in 1987. Became executive director, Latin American Automotive Operations Dec. 1, 1988. Elected a company vice president Oct. 12, 1989, and became head of Asia-Pacific Automotive Operations Nov. 1, 1989. Also serves as chairman of AutoAlliance International Inc., the Ford-Mazda joint venture manufacturing company in Flat Rock, Mich., as of July 1, 1992.
 ROBERT P. SPARVERO -- Born April 15, 1940, in Pittsburgh. Received bachelor's degree and master's degree from Michigan State University. Joined Ford in 1964 as a statistical analyst. Moved to controller's office at Ford Division in 1967. Transferred to Finance Staff in 1972, serving as supervisor of domestic scheduling department, going on to become assistant manager of the programming department. Returned to Ford Division in 1973 as light car marketing plans manager. Appointed executive director, product strategy development on Corporate Strategy and Analysis Staff in 1979. Directed business and product strategy for International Automotive Operations from 1983 through 1985. Named president of Ford Argentina in 1985. Became president of Argentina Operations for Autolatina in 1987. Named general manager North American Automotive Operations Export Sales in 1988.
