Fundraising
 effort to help a Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  family faced with a loss in medical insurance to help take care of their premature baby.

Sheriff Bob Brooks was among those on hand to support the effort and meet 15-month-old Ashlyn Bonebright at Dave's Flying Tamales in Thousand Oaks, which is donating 20 percent of its profits through Aug. 6 to help Ashlyn.

She was born 13 weeks premature at UCLA Medical Center UCLA Medical Center is a hospital located on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California. It is rated as one of the top three hospitals in the United States and is the top hospital on the West Coast according to US News & World Report.  and is now living at home in Simi Valley with her parents, Christine and David Bonebright, a Ventura County sheriff's deputy who patrols Thousand Oaks.

Ashlyn is still having trouble breathing and is blind, and the Bonebrights are facing the expiration EXPIRATION. Cessation; end. As, the expiration of, a lease, of a contract, or statute.

``We want to help the family,'' said Nick Cruz, the co-owner of Dave's Flying Tamales. ``This is a great cause.''
