FOR PEOPLE OUTDOORS: A TINY TOOL TO REMOVE TICKS; A NEEDED ADDITION TO KEY RING OR FIRST AID KIT

STONY POINT, N.Y., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- A little tool, smaller than a key, provides an important margin of safety to anyone outdoors in the event they are bitten by a tick, according to Richard Gadd.
The precision-slotted, stainless steel pocket or key ring instrument, called a Pro-Tick Remedy(TM), is a wonder when it comes to quick and easy removal of ticks, says Gadd, who arranged for its development and production after having ticks attach themselves to him on several occasions.
"Short of preventing the tick bite in the first place, nothing is more important than speedy removal of the tick as a preventative against the spread of disease," Gadd says, "But we hear all the time about occasions where hikers, campers, pet owners and even parents were not equipped to remove a tick."
Having found himself in just that position several times, he says his company, SCS, Ltd., a distributor of safety products, spent a year developing the first pre-production model of what he says is now "the smallest, easiest to use, most durable tick remover available anywhere."
It has been tested by both medical doctors and veterinarians with favorable results. Among their comments: "a really clever device," "quick, painless and safe," "highly recommend it," and "a winner."
The Pro-Tick Remedy (priced about $3.00) is already available in many states, in veterinary clinics, pet groomers and pharmacies as well as some sporting goods stores.
For a catalog on this and other safety products, send a stamped, return-addressed business envelope to SCS, Ltd., PO Box 573, Stony Point, N.Y. 10980.
