But first, the news. Canyons (4-1, 1-0) needed to sustain a running game to keep Pierce's (1-4, 0-1) offense off the field, and Parks responded with 137 yards in 26 carries. It's the most carries he has had this season and it's the second-most yards he's gained since his 219-yard first week against Desert. He scored the Cougars' first four touchdowns on runs of 4, 3, 10 and 6 yards. He also caught a 15-yard pass from Kevin Carrasco, tying him with Gary Hamilton Gary Hamilton (born October 6 1980, Banbridge, Northern Ireland) is a Northern Irish footballer. He got noticed after Desert, making all of his future gains hard-earned. ``The last two weeks, I've been pretty sore,'' he said. Canyons coach Chuck Lyon also has been sore about his team's inability to put teams away. On Saturday, Kevin Carrasco passed for 270 yards, completing 21 of 27 passes to seven different receivers. One receiver, Zeke Prado, came in when Tim Feirfeil went down in the first quarter with an ankle injury and filled in with three second-half catches for 46 yards. The defense, after being outgained 278-248 in the first half despite leading by two touchdowns, shut down the Brahmas in the second half. Pierce, which ended its losing streak at 30 games last week against Compton, gained just two first downs and 33 yards. Quarterback Calvin Zinck passed for 238 yards and two touchdowns to Vaughn Corley, but he completed just 5 of 16 (none to Corley) for 31 yards.
