FOR ALIEN ANT FARM, TIME ON 'WARPED' TOUR IS SWEET.

Dryden Mitchell, frontman for new-breed metal outfit Alien Ant Farm Alien Ant Farm are an alternative rock group that formed in the southern California city of Riverside in 1996. Their name comes from an idea former member Terry Corso had about aliens and the earth--"I was daydreaming at my dull desk job with my feet up, and I thought to myself, , recalls attending football games at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum For board track racing circuit, see .

Present use
The Coliseum is now primarily the home of the USC Trojan football team. During the recent stretch of its success in football, most of USC's regular home games, especially the alternating games with rivals UCLA and Notre
 as an impressionable teen.

In a few short weeks, he's going to play there.

``My grandparents used to take me to Rams games at the Coliseum,'' Mitchell says. ``It's unbelievable to think I'm going to be out on that stage looking at all those people. It's actually kind of scary.''

 daylong event, now in its seventh year, comes to Seaside Park at the Ventura County Fairgrounds on June 28 and the Coliseum on June 29.

``The show has been growing each year,'' said ``Warped'' producer Kevin Lyman. ``It's great ticket value and, because of the kids' loyalty, we've been able to throw in a few new loops.''

The caravan trek was conceived in 1995 with headliners Sublime and No Doubt as an especially loud summer camp on wheels where extreme music, athletics and lifestyles could mingle. Now among the longest-running festival tours, ``Warped'' was responsible for introducing such top- selling acts as Blink-182, Papa Roach, Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit.

``It's awesome just to be part of this thing,'' Mitchell, 25, said. ``And to play places like the Coliseum ... I never thought I'd even get to go there again after the (venue was badly damaged in the 1994) earthquake.''

Along with ``Warped,'' summer's other heavy-rock trek is ``Ozzfest,'' which brings Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot (web) SlipKnot - A graphical World-Wide Web browser specifically designed for Microsoft Windows users who have Unix shell accounts with their service providers. Its primary feature is that it does not require SLIP or PPP or TCP/IP services. , Papa Roach, Linkin Park and Crazy Town to the Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion in Devore on June 30.

``Both lineups are great,'' Mitchell says. ``Our tour has a slightly younger feel, I think. We're lucky to get on a tour with so many incredible bands that have done so much. We're playing with our heroes every night.''
