FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS: LAYING IT ON THE LINE : HART STAR CENTER DESERVES A LOOK.

Byline: Lee Barnathan Daily News Staff Writer

Paul Dolinsky seeks respect. But since he's an offensive lineman - and even worse, a center - there isn't much respect coming.

Not only that, Dolinsky wants respect from Division I college scouts and recruiters. But since he's 6-foot and not three inches taller, no one comes calling.

Pity them, Dolinsky says. His Hart coaches agree.

``He's one of the best linemen we've had,'' Hart coach Mike Herrington said. ``He's got great feet, great strength, great knowledge of the game. He's one of the best drive blockers we've had.''

No one has a problem with Dolinsky's 255 pounds. A college can redshirt a player of that weight and build him into 280 or 290 pounds. But even Herrington knows colleges want linemen who are 6-3 or 6-4. ``That's a fact of life,'' he said.

Division I colleges also want a student who took a foreign language. Dolinsky tried Spanish but couldn't stand it.

``Than cancels me out of D-one,'' he said.

Dolinsky doesn't think it should be that way, so he plays like there's no tomorrow. He was one of two players (Jerry Owens Jerry Lee Owens (born on February 16, 1981 in Hollywood, California) is a Major League Baseball outfielder currently with the Chicago White Sox. He played most of the 2006 season with the AAA Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox affiliation) of the International League, but was  was the other) to play both ways, and he paid the price, often needing smelling salts smelling salts: see ammonia.  to revive him from his exhaustion. He even went to the hospital following the week two win over Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown. .

In practice, players run back in line rather than face him in one-on-one drills. Herrington said Dolinsky has injured teammates so they couldn't play the next Friday Next Friday is the 2000 sequel to Friday , which depicts the neighborhood of South Los Angeles in a comedic sense. The hero, Craig Jones (Ice Cube), leaves home and moves in with his lottery winning and sex-crazed Uncle Elroy (Don "D.C." Curry) in Rancho Cucamonga. .

``They get tweaked necks or tweaked back or shoulders,'' Herrington said. ``He puts the hurt on some.''

Pretty soon, there won't be a tomorrow. Hart plays in tonight's Southern Section Division III

second-round game at St. Francis. There are a maximum of two games after that for the senior. Then maybe there's Cal Lutheran for football, or maybe just on to college for an education.

He insists he isn't bitter, but that doesn't mean Dolinsky is happy about it.

``I feel I can play with them,'' he said. ``I push those guys (defensive linemen) around. Like that guy from Sylmar (Antonio Sanchez Antonio Sanchez might refer to:

Look at former Hart center The Hart Recreation Center is the main athletic center at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. It was built in 1975 and is home to the Holy Cross Crusaders athletic teams. It is named for the Rev. Francis J. Hart, S.J.  Mike Wambolt, Dolinsky says. He's at Colorado but languishing lan·guish

on the scout team In sports, the scout team, also referred to as a practice team or practice squad, is a group of players on a team whose task is to emulate future opponents for the featured (or starting) players. . Why? Because he lacked technique.

In Dolinsky's world, technique is preferable to size, and he's got the technique. He knows how to use his hands and get under the defender's shoulder pads and push them back when run blocking. He knows how to keep his feet in proper position and make a wall to prevent the defender from reaching the quarterback. He can leg press about 400 pounds.

But where's the respect? About all he's known for is snapping the ball to Kyle Boller.

``The pretty boys get all the write-ups,'' Dolinsky said. ``But (Boller)'s a good pretty boy.''
