FOOTBALL: Stubbs: pounds 5K says I'm loyal.

Byline: DAVID MADDOCK

NOBODY could ever question local boy Alan Stubbs' commitment in the Merseyside derby.

If they did, he could offer 5,000 reasons why he is loyal to the Everton cause.

The Goodison defender took a pounds 5,000-a-week pay cut to move from Celtic back to his native city.

"Playing in Europe was important but even more important was the chance of playing for Everton.

"Really it was a foregone conclusion," said Stubbs - a veteran of the Glasgow derby who won't be intimidated by the Merseyside version.

"There was no way I was going to miss out on the one chance to fulfil my boyhood dream."
