FOOTBALL: Addicks trial for Montgomery.

LEAMINGTON-BORN goalkeeper Gary Montgomery Gary Montgomery (born August 10, 1982 in Leamington Spa), is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. In the summer of 2007 he signed a one year deal at Grimsby Town. He is currently back up to first choice keeper Phil Barnes.  could be leaving Coventry City.

The 20-year-old is out of contract in the summer and is unlikely to be kept on at Highfield Road despite having attracted interest from Premiership clubs Charlton and Fulham.

"Gary has gone down to Charlton on trial because we are making decisions about a lot of players at the moment, including the goalkeepers," revealed City boss Gary McAllister Gary McAllister MBE (born 25 December, 1964, in Newarthill, Motherwell) is a Scottish former professional footballer and manager. He began his playing career at Motherwell, scoring 8 goals in 70 appearances, until his fine performance in the 1985 Scottish Cup semi-final against  about the player who was last month named PFA Scholar of the Year.

"His contract is up at the end of the season and we are unsure whether we are going to renew it.

"Charlton have shown an interest in him and so we have given him the opportunity to go down there and have a look.

"We are still keen to bring in Scott Shearer Scott Shearer (born 15 February 1981 in Glasgow) is a Scottish goalkeeper, who currently plays for Wycombe Wanderers. He signed from Bristol Rovers on a free transfer in May 2007.  and although it is not confirmed yet, it is as good as done."

Twenty-two-year-old Shearer impressed City earlier in the season during a week's trial at Ryton from Scottish outfit Albion Rovers.
