Salkeld's scoutmaster is his father, Edward Salkeld, who was proud of his son's accomplishment. "He planned the project and learned how to coordinate a group of people," the father said. "I hold him to the same high standard I hold all of our Scouts." The food pantry is celebrating its 20th year. Established in 1986 by a small group of community volunteers, the pantry uses food donations from the community to provide supplemental food on a short-term basis to qualified local residents. Approximately 60 volunteers work together to sort food, prepare bags and assist clients.
