Organizers expect the event to draw as many as 400 people and raise about $5,000, said Elaine Hintlian of the Kiwanis Club. ``This is always one of our major fund-raisers for the year and we are really excited about it,'' Hintlian said. ``It really produces a lot of money for some deserving youth programs.'' Organizers say there will be several vendor booths and 15 competitors in the cookoff. Simi Valley Days events will continue on Sept. 9, with an English and Western horse riding show, and a car show will be held Sept. 10. The carnival, featuring live entertainment by local bands and performers, will run Sept. 20-24. Festival organizers say they are still booking acts, and that local entertainers are encouraged to apply. The Simi Valley Days parade is scheduled for Sept. 23. The festivities will finish up with the Simi Valley Days Rodeo, scheduled for Sept. 23 and 24, and a 5-10K run Sept. 24.
