FOOD BANK FUNDRAISER TO FEATURE ROCK BAND.

LANCASTER - The 1970s rock band Ambrosia ambrosia (ămbrō`zhə), in Greek mythology, food and drink with which the Olympian gods preserved their immortality. Extraordinarily fragrant, ambrosia was probably conceived of as a purified and idealized form of honey.  will headline a dinner and auction to raise money for Grace Resource Center, the Lancaster charity food bank that feeds 8,000 people a month.

The 15th anniversary dinner also be a ``roast'' of executive director Steve Baker Steve Baker (born September 8, 1978 in Pontefract, West Yorkshire) is an English professional footballer who is a defender and currently plays for Gateshead.

Baker has played for a number of clubs including Middlesbrough, Huddersfield Town, Darlington, Hartlepool and
, who started the center in 1991.

``It's going to be a cool evening,'' Baker said last week. ``They're going to make fun of me.''

Sponsored by former Lancaster City Manager James Gilley's The Gilley Group, the dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Lilac Pavilion at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground. . Ray Gonzalez of KTLA KTLA KCBS TV in Los Angeles  (Channel 5) will be the master of ceremonies.

Silent and live auction items will include a tile roof valued at $9,000, to be installed by Weston Building Supplies and Great American Roofing; a Sony big-screen television; and a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme The Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme was a mid-size car produced by General Motors for the American market. It was always at the top of the Cutlass range. There will be other items and packaged basket gifts. More sponsors are still being sought to sponsor tables and provide more auction items.

The purpose is to raise funds to operate Grace Resource Center and to pay for rehabilitating the final building on Grace's property, a one-time Mercedes Benz and Toyota dealership into which the nonprofit organization Nonprofit Organization

The organization helps 8,000 needy Antelope Valley residents each month with emergency groceries and hot ``Souper'' meals, counseling, a welfare-to-work course that improves chances to get and keep jobs, and office computer-training classes. Grace has nine paid staff and 400 volunteers.

Ambrosia was a five-time Grammy nominee in the 1970s and early 1980s with hits that included ``Biggest Part of Me,'' ``How Much I Feel'' and ``Holdin' On to Yesterday.''

Teen vocalist Alyssa Rossi, a Desert Christian High School Christian High School, also known as CHS, is in O'Fallon, Missouri. The school mascot is the Eagle and the school colors are teal and black. Their women's soccer team has won many state championships.  student, will also sing. She has performed at the Lancaster mayor's Prayer Breakfast, JetHawks baseball games, church gatherings and other events around the Antelope Valley.
