FM thanks Canadian Minister for overwhelming support.ISLAMABAD, August 10, 2009 (Frontier Star): Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Monday thanked Canadian Minister for continuing Canadian support and hoped for an active Canadian participation in the upcoming FODP meeting in Istanbul later this month. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi received Ms. Beverly J. Oda, Canadian Minister for International Cooperation at the Foreign Office on Monday. Matters of mutual interest including bilateral and regional issues were discussed. The Canadian Minister commended the democratic Government of Pakistan for successfully facing the challenges it confronted, and expressed the Canadian desire to support Pakistan's development efforts and to further enhance the relationship in all areas including trade and investment. She also announced Canadian $ 25 million as increased humanitarian assistance for the dislocated persons. The Foreign Minister thanked Minister Oda for continuing Canadian support and hoped for an active Canadian participation in the upcoming FODP meeting in Istanbul later this month. He also briefed the Minister about the successful law enforcement operations in Swat and adjoining areas and thanked the Canadian Government for its support to the Government of Pakistan.
