THE sister of Virgin Atlantic airline boss Sir Richard Branson has been given a pounds 190,000 government grant to offset pollution caused by planes.
Vanessa Devereux will get the cash to plant trees on 220 acres of her Scottish island.
She and her husband Robert own picturesque Eilean Shona, at Loch Moidart, off Ardnamurchan in Argyll.
An insider said: "People looking in from the outside might see an irony in it given Richard has Virgin Atlantic but he is committed to offsetting carbon emissions caused by planes.

Vanessa, who used to be head of Virgin's entertainment business, bought the 2000- acre island 12 years ago for pounds 1.3 million.
Eilean Shona already has 200 acres of Bhutanese pines, Redwoods, Scots pines and Yellowwoods.
Vanessa's is one of thousands of businesses and communities sharing pounds 67million from government agency Rural Priorities. Her company was given pounds 187,000.

JM Barrie rented the island in the 1920s and wrote the Peter Pan screenplay there.
The island is managed by Rose and Alistair Martin. Rose said: "We are still in discussions over the project.
