FLUOR DANIEL AWARDED CONTRACT BY MERCEDES-BENZ

 IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluor Daniel announced today that it has been awarded a contract to provide program and construction management services to Mercedes-Benz Project Inc. for its new $300 million passenger vehicle facility in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
 Fluor Daniel will provide construction management services, including overall program supervision as well as developing bid lists, cost and scheduling assistance, and quality control throughout the construction. Plant and support facilities are expected to be approximately 1 million square feet. Work will begin immediately and should extend through 1997.
 Fluor Daniel provided site selection services assistance to locate the 966-acre tract situated 20 miles east of Tuscaloosa, Ala. In addition, it has been providing preliminary site work under contract to the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority since fall 1993.
 Since it opened offices in Birmingham in 1936, Fluor Daniel has built more than 500 projects with a total installed cost of more than $4 billion in the state of Alabama.
 The company has served the automotive industry for 35 years, and has completed more than 60 automotive projects in the United States, Austria, Canada, China, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia and Mexico for virtually all the major automotive manufacturers.
