Martin Silk made the last eight of the sparring in what was the club's second World Championships as part of the British team. The medal haul rounded off a successful period for the club. Colin and Mathew Silk have been promoted to second dan, black belts, Louise Morton, Sophie Annis and Rebecca Wears all gained their black belt first dans. It means Northern Tang Soo Do, who train at Ryehills School on Tuesday and Thursday nights, now have 11 black belts among about 80 members. The club are hosting the regional championships on September 27 at Eston Sports Academy, with contestants from as far as London and Bristol expected.
