FLORIDA GETS NEW INTERNATIONAL TELEPORT

NORTH MIAMI, Fla., Nov. 23 ~PRNewswire~ -- T.L.C. Productions, Inc. (TeleLink), one of America's first mobile telecommunications companies in the satellite transmission business, has received approval from the City of North Miami to build a new and complete teleport facility in the North Miami Business Park, according to E. Vernon Oliver, chairman, T.L.C. Productions, Inc.
"The new facility, to be known as North Miami International Teleport, will be the first in South Florida and the largest in the state. Initially, it will feature a microwave tower and six satellite transmission 'dishes,'" says Oliver. These dishes, ranging in size from 5 to 13 meters, will transmit and receive television, telephone, radio and high speed data signals to and from communications' satellites in space. These satellites then retransmit the signals back to earth.
The new teleport's fixed and moveable dishes will provide transmission and reception coverage via satellites to Europe, Africa, Middle East, South America, Central America, the Caribbean and North America.
Plans are to have the teleport operational in mid-December. It will be operated by T.L.C. Productions, Inc., which will also continue its mobil communications business for all major TV networks, cable and sports customers. Terrance Kirk, president, has played a major role in its expansion over the past 10 years. "With the addition of North Miami International Teleport, South Florida has its first major satellite communications facility with global capabilities," says Kirk. "We have the world at our fingertips in North Miami," he continued.
Advertising, promotion and public relations for T.L.C. Productions, Inc., and the new North Miami International Teleport are being handled by Dimensional Marketing Services, Inc. of Miami.
