The flight test center at Edwards is host to flight testing for all aircraft for the U.S. Air Force. The center's work force - civilian, military and contractor - test-flight and evaluate new aircraft and upgrades for aircraft already in inventory for Air Force units, the Department of Defense, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), civilian agency of the U.S. federal government with the mission of conducting research and developing operational programs in the areas of space exploration, artificial satellites (see satellite, artificial), and other government agencies.
