RIVERSIDE, Calif., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Cypress Lakes in Lakeland, Fla., has been named "Manufactured Home Community of the Year" by the National Manufactured Housing Congress in Las Vegas. The community is owned and managed by Lakeland-based Blair Group, which is owned by Hugh Culverhouse, also owner of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Blair Group is the largest retailer of manufactured homes by Fleetwood Enterprises in Florida.
The award was recently presented in Las Vegas during the third annual convention of the Housing Congress.
Nominees in 11 categories were selected from slates of candidates presented by state manufactured housing associations located throughout the United States. First given in 1992, the National Awards are now a permanent part of the annual convention of the Housing Congress. Chairman Gub Mix said the voting is done by a wide range of industry representatives.
"Our voters are lenders, retailers, manufacturers, and suppliers from all regions of the United States," Mix said. "Voters are industry professionals who truly understand the business and what it takes to be a top achiever. The Blair Group can be rightfully proud of this honor."
Blair Group President Bob Young said Fleetwood quality made a real contribution to the recent accolade for Cypress Lakes. "We have an excellent location and concept with Cypress Lakes, and the quality-built product Fleetwood offers enhances our marketing efforts as a quality community."
Cypress Lakes is a golf course and country club community in central Florida, between Orlando and Tampa. An all-adult community, it sells primarily to retirees whose average age is 61; approximately 1,000 retirees reside here. In addition to golf, Cypress Lakes residents have access to swimming, tennis and shuffleboard, and to various indoor activities at their private clubhouse.
Fleetwood's John Pollis, director of marketing and design, said the award for Cypress Lakes complements the "Manufacturer of the Year" award bestowed on Fleetwood Enterprises' Manufactured-Housing Group at the same awards program. "Without such outstanding retailers as Bob Young, Fleetwood would not enjoy its marketing success," said Pollis. "Cypress Lakes has also won our `Circle of Excellence' award, an honor Fleetwood grants to retail locations that achieve exceptional levels of customer satisfaction."
According to Pollis, Fleetwood's commitment to quality is reflected by its "Circle of Excellence" award, a coveted tribute bestowed annually on those retailers, who have earned high satisfaction ratings from their customers. For 1992, 400 of the 1,800 retail home centers in Fleetwood's distribution network were recognized for exemplary customer satisfaction. Additionally, its top-performing manufacturing centers were honored similarly for obtaining outstanding levels of customer satisfaction.
"Bob Young and Cypress Lakes exemplify our focus on quality and customer satisfaction," said Pollis. "We are truly honored to be associated with the Blair Group and Bob and to have received this fine honor from the Manufactured Housing Congress."
Fleetwood Enterprises is headquartered in Riverside. The Fortune 500 Company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and it's the leading manufacturer of homes and recreational vehicles. Fleetwood has 27 home manufacturing centers selling to all 50 states. More than 2 million people live in homes built by Fleetwood Enterprises.
