FLASHPOINT

The Culinary Union is taking heat for Barack Obama’s loss here. But remember which major labor organization was the first to endorse Obama here? That would be SEIU, “one of the most politically active local unions in the country with nearly two-thirds of its 17,500 represented workers registered to vote,” the union bragged when it announced the nod. Four more releases followed through caucus eve, with SEIU touting its members working the phones and the streets from Reno to Las Vegas. “SEIU Nevada members across the state have been collecting caucus pledge cards and signing up precinct captains in coordination with the Barack Obama campaign,” the last release said. I’m sure Obama appreciates the help. What a powerful union!
