FLAPJACK FUND-RAISER TO SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIP DRIVE.

A pancake breakfast will be served Sunday morning at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  in conjunction with the weekly farmers market to raise money for scholarships.

Funds raised at the ``Flip for Scholarships'' will be held for teens involved in a COC See chip on chip.  program to help high school students from low-income families learn about college life.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot adjacent to the farmers market. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for children under 10. Advance tickets are available at the COC Foundation Office on campus.

Tammy Castor, coordinator for the breakfast, said she hopes to raise $500 for the ``Early Start at COC: At-Risk Youth'' program. Many Keystone members come from low-income families that might not have the money to send their children to college, organizers said.

The Early Start program introduces club members, ages 14 to 17, to campus life using HITE mentors who are from the teens' own neighborhoods. The younger students are introduced to careers waiting for them when they finish high school and to college.
