The local elementary schools nominated by California are: Welby Way, in Canoga Park; Stevenson Ranch Stevenson Ranch, California (in the 91381 ZIP Code) is a Los Angeles County, USA, unincorporated community west of Santa Clarita a few miles south of Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park. The federal government's Blue Ribbon award honors the best schools from throughout the nation based on a variety of criteria, including academic achievement, community involvement and school culture.

The program, now in its 18th year, alternates between honoring elementary and secondary schools every year. The national winners will be announced in May, followed by a White House ceremony next fall.
