FIT FOR A VETERAN OBSERVANCES SET FOR ANTELOPE VALLEY.

PALMDALE- Observances in Lancaster, Palmdale and Rosamond will be held today to honor the memories of veterans who died and celebrate the service of those still living.

--LANCASTER - The Lancaster Cemetery District, 111 E. Lancaster Blvd., will hold a remembrance beginning with a flag-raising at 8 a.m., followed by students from the California Junior Scholarship Federation from Hillview School's eighth-grade class presenting stories and poems honoring veterans.

--LANCASTER - Services will be held at 11 a.m. at Joshua Memorial Park, 808 E. Lancaster Blvd., hosted by Lancaster Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7283 and their ladies auxiliary.

--ROSAMOND - A Veterans Day service will be held at 11 a.m. in Rosamond Park on Glendower Street. Boy Scout Troop 41 will serve a pancake breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. Lunch will be served afterward at Rosamond VFW See Video for Windows.  Post 9657 on 20th Street and Elray.

--PALMDALE - Mayor Jim Ledford, Palmdale sheriff's station Capt. John Witt and U.S. Air Force Plant 42 commander Lt. Col. Ronald A. Ortiz will be guest speakers at services held at 11 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 2200 E. Ave. S.

 Air Force Junior ROTC cadets will raise the colors and the Palmdale Veterans Color Guard will give a rifle salute to veterans.

Fleet Reserve Association member Phil Roberts will recite ``It is the Veteran'' and ``Let Them In, Peter,'' a poem found in a hospital in the Philippines during World War II.

Highland High School buglers will perform taps and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary member Evie Moore will sing ``My Buddy.''
