FISC Announces FISCheckAccelerator(TM) as New Service for Remittance/Lockbox Clients.

LEWISTON, Maine Lewiston, in Androscoggin County, is the second-largest city in the U.S. state of Maine. The estimated 2007 population was 37,734. It is one of two principal cities of and included within the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine Metropolitan New England City and Town Area and the  -- Financial Institutions Service Corporation (FISC fisc

) with corporate headquarters located in Lewiston, Maine, today announced it will convert Jackson Heights, New York-based United Spinal Association, to its newest cash management product FISCheckAccelerator[TM], marking the first of FISC's nonprofit clients to utilize this benefit.

FISCheckAccelerator accelerates the funds availability of all check deposits made on behalf of FISC's remittance/lockbox clients. By eliminating daily paper deposits and instead transmitting them directly to the bank of first deposit via an electronic image file, deposits enter the check clearing process immediately.

FISC's new cash management product is now available and provides, in most cases, a significant increase in funds availability on deposited items. "This is truly a savings opportunity for our remittance clients," said FISC CFO See Chief Financial Officer.  and General Counsel Richard Scott Richard Scott may refer to:
  • Richard William Scott (1825–1913), Canadian politician and cabinet minister
  • Richard G. Scott (born 1928), nuclear engineer and member of the quorum of the twelve apostles for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
.

This product is designed to work stand-alone or in conjunction with FISC's ARC product which converts consumer checks to ACH debits. Since ARC can only be used to convert consumer checks, there is still a percentage of work that must be deposited by paper to the bank. With FISCheckAccelerator, this remaining paper volume can be deposited through an electronic image file. In turn, the entire deposit can benefit from accelerated clearing and increased funds availability.

"We are pleased to work with FISC to benefit from this cost savings opportunity," said Cary Castle, Director of Development at United Spinal Association.
