FIRST CONNECTICUT CHANGES NAME; WILL DEREGISTER AS INVESTMENT COMPANY

BRIDGEPORT, Conn., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Stockholders of First Connecticut Small Business Investment Company have voted to change the name of the company to The First Connecticut Capital Corporation. This change became effective Jan. 27, 1993.
Stockholders also voted to deregister as an "investment company" under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and to amend its fundamental investment policy to expand the type of investment or business in which it is authorized to be engaged. The company also amended and restated its certificate of incorporation and bylaws to reflect the above changes and to reflect the fact that the company is no longer acting as a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC), licensed by the Small Business Administration.
The company ceased to operate as an SBIC as a result of the company's plan of reorganization confirmed by the bankruptcy court on Jan. 9, 1992. Under SBA regulations, the company had been limited to the types of investments it could make. The company will not make any new loans or investments until January 1993, according to the plan.
