FIRESTONE SELLS CALDER AND GULFSTREAM RACETRACKS
NEWSTEAD FARMS, UPPERVILLE, Va., Dec. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Bert and

Diana Firestone announced today that they have sold Gulfstream Racetrack to the Orient Corporation and Calder Racetrack and Tropical Park to Kawasaki Leasing Corp. Terms were not disclosed.
"While I have enjoyed the racetracks, one cannot fall in love with any business," Mr. Firestone said. "The offers we received made it more attractive for us to sell than to remain in these businesses. While I plan to stay active in racing, our horse-related activities, for the foreseeable future, will be focused on racing and breeding our own horses."
Mr. Firestone said that over the years the family has owned and raced a number of champions, including Honest Pleasure, Theatrical, April Run and Genuine Risk.
"Our new farm, Newstead, has an impressive history of its own," he continued. "We plan to build both on its past and our own to produce the champions of the future.
"While I will be devoting considerable attention to my other business interest, the activity that will get the most attention will be my family," he said. "My daughter Alison has become one of the top young show riders in the country. I don't plan on missing any of her future performances."
