FIRESIDE MUSIC SERIES COMING BACK AFTER BRIEF HIATUS.Byline: Kevin F. Sherry Daily News Staff Writer A popular folk-music event will soon return to the Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by . The Conejo Recreation and Park District has found two producers to revive the Fireside Music Series, which ran monthly for about 12 years but was discontinued in early 1996 because of scheduling conflicts. The series will return with quarterly concerts, the first of which will be Oct. 10 at the Borchard Community Center in Newbury Park, said John Donn, one of the event's producers. The acoustics acoustics (ək `stĭks) [Gr.,=the facts about hearing], the science of sound, including its production, propagation, and effects. and casual atmosphere of the venue make it an easy sell for singers and musicians, said Bob Kroll, a performer and the event's other producer. ``It's one of the finest venues I've ever entertained in,'' Kroll said. ``It's kind of a homey atmosphere.'' The proximity of the audience and the performers makes for an intimate setting, Donn said. The atmosphere is informal, like that of a coffeehouse, but the audience is more attentive, he said. ``They're there to listen, so it's quiet,'' Donn said.
