FINISHING TOUCHES BEING PUT ON PRINCESS CRUISES BUILDING.

Byline: Teresa Jimenez Daily News Staff Writer

The colorful future home of Princess Cruises' customer service division is becoming more than just beams and scaffoldings, and the finished product is expected to bring some character to Town Center Drive, a future outdoor shopping destination.

The six-story structure has been designed to look like separate but attached buildings similar to those found in older cities. Its facade has been divided by different colors and stylistic features, giving it an animated downtown look.

``It's designed to have unique architectural features and bold use of colors,'' said Marlee Lauffer, spokeswoman for The Newhall Land and Farming Company The Newhall Land and Farming Company is a land management company based in Valencia, California, United States. The company is responsible for the master community planning of Valencia, as well as the management of farm land elsewhere in the state. , which is developing the building for Princess Cruises Princess Cruises is an American cruise line, based out of Santa Clarita, California, that operates cruise ships also shares the same building with Cunard Line headquarters. Princess Cruises, which has its headquarters in Century City, plans to move groups of employees - 700 in all - to the Valencia site week-by-week starting Nov. 7, said company spokeswoman Suzanne Ferrull.

`It will be the new customer service center, with the reservations, air services and passenger services employees,'' Ferrull said. ``It will have all the people who are actually interacting with customers and getting them on cruises.''

Princess Cruises will occupy the second through sixth floors, while retail businesses will lease the ground floor space. The retail area will be complete early next year, Lauffer said.

But don't worry - new shops are expected to open just down the way before Christmas. Hidden behind the barricades and construction chaos are buildings ready to be occupied by businesses such as Ann Taylor Notable people named Ann Taylor include:

and Tea Leaf coffee house. A grand opening is scheduled for Nov. 20, Lauffer said.

The stores will extend along Town Center Drive from the carousel area of the Valencia Town Center.
