FILMING FOR FAMILIES : MOVIEMAKER TO SCREEN WORK AT AREA FESTIVAL.

Byline: Patricia Farrell Aidem Daily News Staff Writer

It's a warm memory from her childhood in a tiny Wyoming town. Deborah Hofstedt, her parents and siblings siblings npl (formal) → frères et sœurs mpl (de mêmes parents)  would crowd into the family car and head for the drive-in each time a Disney movie came to town.

The memory of that special time inspired her career as a filmmaker, producing movies that families can enjoy together.

Now a mother of three living in Newhall, Hofstedt is marketing ``The King's Falcon,'' a 25-minute video she wrote, produced and directed. The movie will be screened Tuesday during the third annual Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Family Film Festival at the Edwards Theatres in Valencia.

The short film earned her national recognition last week when she won the Vision Award for Best Motivational Film. Vision Awards recognize outstanding short films and commercials submitted from all over the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. .

``I want to write films that families can have a good time watching together,'' Hofstedt said Wednesday. ``I remember in my little town of 5,000 it was a big event for the family to go to a drive-in and watch a Disney movie. The schedule would come out for the month and we children would circle in red when the Disney movies would be out.

``We don't have drive-ins now, but families can sit together and watch movies at home. It's a wonderful way to share time together.''

Hofstedt borrowed money to produce ``The King's Falcon,'' filmed on a shoestring in the national forests of Utah. A friend who is an Emmy Award-winning producer did the photography. Hofstedt drew talent from Brigham Young University Brigham Young University, at Provo, Utah; Latter-Day Saints; coeducational; opened as an academy in 1875 and became a university in 1903. It is noted for its law and business schools.  in Provo - Jeremy W. Hoops played the lead role of King Eadrick, and Hart High graduate Trisha King, a flutist, performed the theme song.
