FILM FESTIVAL TO BEGIN TONIGHT.

LANCASTER - Films shown at festivals at Taos, Sundance, London and elsewhere will be shown tonight and Saturday at Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming.

The Antelope Valley
 College's fourth annual film festival.

Nine short films will be shown starting at 7 tonight, and the festival will continue at 12:30 p.m. Saturday with three films by AVC (1) (Advanced Video Coding) The video compression techniques used in the H.264 standard, jointly developed by ISO and the ITU-T. See H.264.

(2) (Audio Visual C
 faculty and at 7 p.m. Saturday with a feature presentation called ``Screenplay screenplay

Written text that provides the basis for a film production. Screenplays usually include not only the dialogue spoken by the characters but also a shot-by-shot outline of the film's action.

``It should be a good show,'' said AVC communication arts professor Michael Traina, the festival organizer.

The festival will take place at Movies 1-4, 15th St. W. in Lancaster. Tickets can be purchased at the Movies 1-4 box office for $7 for the public and $4 for students and college faculty. Passes for admission to all three programs are $15 and $10.

The filmmakers will be present for discussions following the screenings. A question and answer session will follow each event.

Festival organizers note that the programs are intended for adult audiences and are not recommended for young children.

The short films include Daniel Lawrence's ``Vigilance VIGILANCE. Proper attention in proper time.

The AVC faculty showcase will include film and television professor David Lewis' ``Kings of the Mountain,'' about five poker buddies reminiscing about a dead friend. ``Great Harry and Jane,'' directed by film and television professor Salvador Litvak, is a historical drama about Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour Jane Seymour
