The guild accuses Four Media of refusing to negotiate with two divisions of its employees after agreeing last month to sign a contract with workers in the sound department.

``It means selling two-thirds of the unit to get one-third of a contract,'' said guild organizer Eric Chaudron.

A company official who did not want to be identified said the company had no comment on the guild's allegations, but that Four Media ``continues to negotiate with them; that's the truth.''

The guild, which held a rally against the post-production company in May, said that employees were forced to reapply Re`ap`ply´

for their positions and saw their wages cut by as much as 50 percent when the company was acquired in 1993 by a group of investors who changed its name to Four Media. At the time, the company was known as Compact Video and was under a guild contract.

The guild filed complaints with the National Labor Relations Board National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), independent agency of the U.S. government created under the National Labor Relations Act of 1935 (Wagner Act), and amended by the acts of 1947 (Taft-Hartley Labor Act) and 1959 (Landrum-Griffin Act), which affirmed labor's right  against Four Media and Compact Video. The board sided with the guild both times.

``We had a rally in May and we also do leafletting, but we wanted to raise the bar a little bit here to see if we can get their attention,'' Chaudron said.

The guild will picket the company's Burbank headquarters every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. until the issue is resolved, he said.
