The Directors Guild of America will pay tribute Tuesday to the very few African-American women directors in its ranks.

``This is an excellent chance for us to salute the accomplishments of African-American women who have had to overcome so many obstacles to reach the positions they are in today,'' DGA DGA Directors Guild of America (movie directors union)
DGA Délégation Générale pour l'Armement (France)
DGA Directeur-Grootaandeelhouder (Dutch: Managing Director and Major Shareholder)

The event, called ``Hollywood's New Deal: Black Women in the Director's Chair,'' begins at 6:30 p.m. with a news conference and cocktail reception, followed by the program at 7:45 p.m. and dessert.

The honorees will include Jackee Harry, Donna Brown Guillaume, Erma Elzy-Jones and Vickie Lemay.

The DGA membership last year included 21 female African-American directors. Their working days in filmed television shows accounted for less than 1 percent of all days worked by DGA members, while their days in taped television accounted for just over 1 percent of all days worked. No African-American women were in charge of feature films.

The Directors Guild of America is at 7920 Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles. To reserve seats, call (310) 289-5300.
