FILM/SNEAK PEEK : PRE-OSCARS SHOWCASE FOR DOCUMENTARIES.


Eight of the 10 documentaries nominated for Oscars will be presented in a special daylong showcase on March 22 - two days before the Academy Awards.

DocuDay is sponsored by the International Documentary Association and the film department of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, also known as LACMA, is the official and world-renowned art museum of the County of Los Angeles, California, located on Wilshire Boulevard along Museum Row in the Miracle Mile vicinity of Los Angeles. . It is the 15th year of the annual event.

The films, nominated in both the short and feature-length categories, will be shown at the museum's Bing Theater. The two movies excluded from DocuDay - ``Cosmic Voyage'' and ``Special Effects'' - are big-screen IMAX IMAX

Program E (9:45 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.) - ``Mandela.''

The pen is mightier ...: Four men who have penned successful action films will discuss action-thriller screenwriting at a weekend seminar March 14-16 at the Holiday Inn in Hollywood.

The writers are: Chris McQuarrie (``The Usual Suspects''), Dan O'Bannon (``Alien,'' ``Total Recall,'' ``Screamers''), Peter Bellwood (``Highlander'') and Jeffrey Boam (``Lethal Weapon 2 and 3,'' ``Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'').
