FILM/SNEAK PEEK : IF YOU'VE GOT THE TIME ...


Although what American Cinematheque's latest film series may lack in quality it definitely makes up for in quantity. ``The Really Long Film Series,'' playing weekends Dec. 5-20, offers up some of the longest films ever made.

The bill includes an archival 35mm print of Joseph Mankiewicz's ``Cleopatra,'' starring Elizabeth Taylor Noun 1. Elizabeth Taylor - United States film actress (born in England) who was a childhood star; as an adult she often co-starred with Richard Burton (born in 1932)

Unfortunately, Andy Warhol's 25-hour epic ``Four Stars'' was unavailable.

American Cinematheque The American Cinematheque is an independent, non-profit cultural organization in Los Angeles dedicated exclusively to the public presentation of the Moving Image in all its forms. It is considered among the premier organizations of its kind in America.  recommends bringing a pillow and blanket and says coffee and snacks will be served during breaks. Awards update

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences says 44 nations have submitted entries for Oscar consideration in its best foreign language film category, up from 39 last year. Four countries are in the running for the first time: the Democratic Republic of Congo, Luxembourg, South Africa South Africa, Afrikaans Suid-Afrika, officially Republic of South Africa, republic (2005 est. pop. 44,344,000), 471,442 sq mi (1,221,037 sq km), S Africa.  and Ukraine.

The 70th annual Academy Awards won't be handed out until March 23, but one Florida teen-ager may be packing her bags already in preparation. The academy says Melissa Anne Douso of Tallahassee has been chosen as the only high school reporter credentialed for the big event.
