FIFTH THIRD'S INTERNATIONAL DIVISION WINS 'E' AWARD

 CINCINNATI, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Fifth Third Bank is proud to announce that its International Department has won the prestigious President's "E" Award. In awarding the Department, the United States Department of Commerce cited Fifth Third's International Department's success in helping increase the export industry among businesses in the Greater Cincinnati area.

 Fifth Third Bank has the largest international department in Greater Cincinnati. The experienced staff of Fifth Third's International Group has played a significant role in increasing exporting in the service industry. The bank maintains more than 600 correspondent banking relationships in more than 75 countries as well as 35 foreign currency accounts in 23 countries to accommodate the exporting needs of local businesses.

 The President's "E" Award acknowledges exporters, and those who assist exporters, for mastering what the Department of Commerce names the four "Es" -- Exports, Excellence, Expansion and Effort. Banks, utilities, export firms, Chambers of Commerce, trade associations and state agencies are eligible for the award.
 Fifth Third's International Department is 70 years old this year. With one of the largest corporate foreign exchange offices outside of Chicago and New York, the group trades $2.5 billion a year on the foreign exchange. It issues a volume of $350 million in letters of credit annually using an automated letter of credit system. Additionally, the bank's international experts provide customers with export financing, banker's acceptance and international collections and payments services. The department currently has a staff of 26 with a combined international work experience of more than 150 years.
