It's hard to decide what's worse: not seeing the two fastest cars on the track race to the finish or the fact the drivers of the two fastest cars didn't complain about it.

Jones slapped the wall. The yellow flag came out, freezing the field under the new rules, and Newman won his first race of the season under caution.

Talk about spinning your wheels. This has been the storyline for the past few weeks on NASCAR's top circuit.

A year ago, Newman and Kahne would have been allowed to race to the finish line, and the way Kahne was gaining, it could have been a celebration for the rookie instead of Newman.

After the race though, neither driver was too upset with the outcome. Newman, understandably, said he would have won the race regardless of caution flags.

``I slipped pretty bad coming off of turn two, in the middle of two,'' said Newman, driver of the No. 12 Dodge for Penske Racing South. ``I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

. I knew we had a pretty good advantage and we had a pretty fast car and the car felt really good and it was balanced. I really don't think he had a shot at all, but obviously he was closing in pretty quick.''

Kahne, who lost any chance of chasing down Newman on the final lap, conceded victory all too quickly.

``The second place, I wonder myself,'' said Kahne, driver of the No. 9 Dodge for Evernham Motorsports. ``If it had gone to the start/finish, I would have lost by half a car length. It would have been another close one. I'll take a second. We haven't finished second in a long time, so it's nice.''

For crying in the antifreeze antifreeze, substance added to a solvent to lower its freezing point. The solution formed is called an antifreeze mixture. Antifreeze is typically added to water in the cooling system of an internal-combustion engine so that it may be cooled below the freezing point , winning is nicer. Heck, it's better than nice. NASCAR fans were robbed again of a great finish and so were these two drivers. This freezing the field every time a caution flag comes out is taking all the racing out of auto racing.  some of the drivers start saying so.

Up until now, the only drivers making much of a stink about the number and length of caution periods have been Jeff Gordon, Jamie McMurray and to a point Casey Mears.

And drivers such as Kahne, who has been robbed at least three times this year by untimely cautions at the end of races, should be the maddest of all. Instead he says:

``When he got loose I said, 'I'm going to catch him.' I told myself that, and I was going to do all I could in three and four. Thinking about it now after the race is over I probably would have come up a little short.''

That he didn't even get a chance should make Kahne hotter than a head gasket.

career - and the level of difficulty increases.

Then for good measure, NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers Kevin Harvick and Brian Vickers, who will be racing in the Dodge/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma's Infineon Raceway on Sunday, have decided to challenge the Southwest Series drivers in Saturday's race as well.

``When you graduate to this level of racing, there are no easy races,'' said Michels, a two-time NASCAR Super Late Model track champion at Irwindale Speedway and the top rookie on the Southwest Series. ``I just have to qualify and the race will take care of itself.''

Qualifying will be no easy task. Including Harvick and Vickers, 45 drivers have entered the Snap-On Tools/Jelly Belly 200. The race starts at 1 p.m.

The final eliminations are Saturday night starting at 6. Tickets are $25 per day or $45 for a two-day pass.
