FESTIVAL SET IN FOREST; VARIETY OF BANDS TO PERFORM ALL DAY.

Byline: Daily News

Music in the Forest, a daylong music festival, will be staged Sunday in the mountain community of Pine Mountain Club near Frazier Park.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is sponsored by local volunteers, the community Art Guild and the Art from the Heart Association.

The Chesterfield Kings and The Sultans of Swing will headline the live entertainment scheduled for this festival in the park.

With a different band performing every hour, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of entertainment including blues, jazz, country, Dixieland and surf music. Scheduled performers include Sherry Williams and Trio (jazz), Lanny Ray and the Reels (blues), SouthSide Chicago Seven (Dixieland), The Rose of Tejon (a local Irish country band) and more. In addition, three school groups will be performing: a marching band, a Dixieland band and an electric shoe band.

SouthSide Chicago Seven recently completed its first CD, ``I Never Knew.'' Known for entertaining audiences with a Chicago-style jazz popular in the 1920s and '30s, the group's repertoire also includes ensemble ragtime ragtime: see jazz., New Orleans jazz and small-band swing.

The festival features an arts and crafts exhibit, a food fair, and plenty of activities for children. Proceeds will benefit the El Tejon Middle School's music and arts department.

To reach the Music in the Forest festival, take the Golden State Freeway north to the Frazier Park exit. Turn left and go about 12 miles, following signs to Pine Mountain Club.
