FERGIE SNIFFS OUT DRUGS, CASH.

GLENDALE - With help from their drug-sniffing Labrador retriever Labrador retriever, breed of large sporting dog whose origins are obscure but whose immediate ancestors were developed in Newfoundland and brought to England in the early 1800s. The District Attorney's Office on Friday filed felony charges of conspiracy to transport cocaine and possession of cocaine for sale, with the special allegation that it was more than four kilos (nearly nine pounds), against Salvador Pineda, 32, of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. ; Jonathan Marroquin, 28; Rafael Cortez Bermudez, 32, of Viejo, and Servando Penaloza Bermudez, 31, Daniel Ochoa Cardenas, 35, and Isidro Ceja, 58, all of Anaheim.

All six were all being held Tuesday in the Los Angeles County Jail with bail set at $500,000.

 one of the suspects had been driving July 5, officers searched the car to no avail.

But with the car impounded back at the station, the department's 4-year- old K-9, Fergie, sniffed out $27,000 in cash stashed behind side panels in the car's back seat. The compartments were rigged with an elaborate electronic release system, officials said.

The dog picked up the cocaine scent from the money, said Lt. Lief Nicolaisen.
