But the reality wasn't so simple.

The Ducks again surrendered a third-period lead, a fact they didn't try to ignore.

``Sergei had to dig us out one more time, I guess, is the bottom line,'' Ducks coach Mike Babcock Mike Babcock (born April 29, 1963 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada [1]) is a Canadian hockey head coach and former player. From 2002 to 2005 he was the head coach of the NHL's Anaheim Mighty Ducks, leading the Ducks to their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals  said.

Fedorov scored 69 seconds after the Blackhawks had erased a 3-1 deficit. He scored the final two goals Wednesday to give the Ducks a 3-3 tie with the New Jersey Devils The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. They are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Devils have won the Stanley Cup three times, in 1995, 2000, and 2003. .

The Ducks have struggled to hold on to leads during a four-game winless streak in which they tied or lost in overtime. They surrendered a two-goal lead Friday but, thanks to Fedorov, moved above .500 (8-7-3-5) for first time this season. The Ducks have earned at least a point in the standings in 10 consecutive games and left the Pond tied with San Jose San Jose, city, United States

for first place in the Pacific Division.

``We were sitting on the 2-0 lead (in the first period), and we thought that we were going to keep scoring goals,'' Ducks right wing Petr Sykora said. ``You can never let down against any team, any time in this league. I hope that we learned that lesson tonight.''

The Ducks scored twice in 17 seconds in the first period. Sykora got credit for a goal knocked in by Chicago goaltender Craig Anderson Craig Anderson may refer to::

Jason Krog gave the Ducks a 3-1 lead less than six minutes into the third period, but the margin disappeared in a span of three minutes.

Igor Radulov and Tyler Arnason scored to give Chicago, winless in its past nine games, a chance to win.

Babcock called timeout after the Blackhawks tied the game and said he asked his team, `` `What do you want to be? Do you want to be a team out here ... nervous, watching them play, or do you want to be a team that goes out and goes after them? Let's just play. Quit worrying about stuff and play.' But I think what the deal is, when you become like we have where we've given up some leads, now you have to overcome yourself.

``This reminds me so much of the start of last year it's not even funny that way. And yet we've been getting points night in and night out here, and that's what you have to do in this league.''
