``We see tremendous opportunity ahead,'' Terry J. Lundgren Terry J. Lundgren (b. 1952) is the CEO, Chairman of the Board, President, and Director at Macy's, Inc., the parent company of Macy*s and Bloomingdale's department stores.

The two Valley-area stores are among four additional California divestitures requested by State Attorney General Bill Lockyer. The other two are in Westminster and Newport Beach.

As part of the agreement with Lockyer, Federated must give sales priority to competitors such as Nordstrom, Neiman-Marcus and Dillard's. Any buyer must also agree to keep the sites open as department stores for at least seven years.

``The A.G. had concerns about negative effects on shoppers,'' said Tom Dresslar, a spokesman for Lockyer. ``The less competition you have, the less choice there is for consumers and frequently, (you get) higher prices.''

But Mike Sedell, Simi Valley's city manager, said legal agreements involving the store owners, the developer and the city mean the mall will open with Macy's and a Robinsons-May store.

``While this divestiture may be required at some point in the future, there will be a Robinsons-May and a Macy's opening Oct. 27 in Simi Valley,'' Sedell said. ``Any change to the name on one of those stores will under legal agreements be jointly decided with the developers of the mall and the city of Simi Valley. We don't anticipate any immediate changes.''

Also on the company's sell list are the Robinsons-May at The Oaks mall in Thousand Oaks, one at the Northridge Fashion Center Northridge Fashion Center is a large shopping mall located in Northridge, California.
