FEDERAL-MOGUL APPOINTS FRED J. MUSONE PRESIDENT OF WORLDWIDE MANUFACTURING OPERATION

 SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Dennis J. Gormley, chairman and chief executive officer of Federal-Mogul Corporation (NYSE: FMO) today announced the appointment of Fred J. Musone to the new position of president, Worldwide Manufacturing Operation. Additional personnel changes were also announced.
 As president, Worldwide Manufacturing Operation, Musone will be responsible for the company's core products worldwide which include Federal-Mogul's Chassis Operations and Powertrain Operations. The position is effective immediately.
 Musone joined the company in 1972 and most recently served as president of the Chassis Products Operation since 1989. Prior to that he served as vice president and general manager of the company's aftermarket distribution and logistics function for three years. Earlier in his Federal-Mogul career he held a variety of management positions in both manufacturing and distribution.
 "Fred is a dynamic leader and has a demonstrated history of implementing continuous improvement," Gormley said. "By broadening his responsibilities, he will now have the opportunity to further expand positive change throughout our global manufacturing organization. I look forward to his input."
 A number of other key executive appointments were also announced today:
 Alan C. Johnson was named vice president, Powertrain Operations - Americas. In his new position he will be responsible for engine bearing, bushing, washer and piston production in North and South America. William W. Bilkey Jr., recently appointed general manager of Lighting, Electrical and Fuel Systems, will report to Johnson.
 Johnson joined Federal-Mogul in 1970 and has held a wide variety of financial management and general management assignments. In 1990 he was named general manager -- Sealing Products Operations and was appointed a vice president in 1992.
 D. James Davis was named vice president, Chassis Operations. He will be responsible for production of ball bearings and sealing products worldwide. Davis joined Federal-Mogul in 1980. He served as manager of the Gallipolis, Ohio plant from 1984 to 1987, then as general manager of the Lighting and Electrical Division for four years. He was named general manager - Ball Bearing Products in 1991 and was appointed a vice president in 1992.
 Both Johnson and Davis will report to Musone.
 James O. Davis was named vice president, Distribution and Logistics, Worldwide Aftermarket Operation. Davis will be responsible for the company's aftermarket distribution activities in the United States. He will report to Wayne G. Smith, president, Worldwide Aftermarket Operation. This change will allow for increased focus on the company's U.S. distribution operations as the consolidation of TRW's aftermarket is completed and the integration of the Sealed Power Replacement Division is undertaken.
 Davis most recently served as general manager, Lighting and Electrical Products since 1991. He joined the company in 1981 at its Worldwide Distribution Center where he held engineering management and project management assignments.
 With this new structure, James J. Zamoyski, vice president, International Aftermarket Operation, will now be able to devote his full attention to Federal-Mogul's global replacement business. This business represents one of the company's fastest-growing segments.
 In addition, Federal-Mogul's manufacturing and aftermarket sourcing activities will be combined under Charles J. Fischer, vice president of Global Sourcing. This move is designed to maximize the company's purchasing coordination on a global basis. Fischer will continue reporting to Smith.

The company serves both the aftermarket and the original equipment market providing quality products -- as they are needed -- to customers around the world.
