FEDERAL EXPRESS IS NEWEST PARTICIPANT AT DISNEY PARKS

BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal Express Corp. (NYSE: FDX) will become the newest member of the Disney participant family as the presenter of the exciting Space Mountain adventures at Disneyland in California and the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Under an agreement announced today by Frederick W. Smith, chairman and chief executive officer of Federal Express, and Frank Wells, president and chief operating officer of The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS), Federal Express becomes the official express delivery service for the Disney parks in the United States.
"We are pleased to welcome Federal Express who joins other leading companies as sponsors of major attractions at our parks," Wells said. "The Space Mountain adventure is one of the most popular attractions at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World and hosts millions of guests each year on a thrilling ride through the galaxy.
"Federal Express and Disney designers will be working together developing displays that will demonstrate the interplanetary horizon that Federal Express envisions for express delivery in the next century," Wells said.
Smith said, "We are delighted to be associated with the Disney organization, a company with which we share many of the same values -- innovation, leadership, creativity and a commitment to customer and employee satisfaction. This agreement offers Federal Express exciting sales and marketing opportunities, including exposure to the millions of people from around the world who visit the Disney parks each year."
The Space Mountain adventure carries guests high into the night sky, then twists and plunges down through the darkness in rocket sleds toward a realistic re-entry into the earth's atmosphere. It provides the unforgettable excitement of a sci-fi race through space with real dimensional thrills.
Guests at Disney parks will be able to arrange to have purchases sent anywhere in the world via Federal Express from selected shops on the Walt Disney World and Disneyland properties. In addition, Federal Express service will be available from the majority of the Disney Hotels in Florida and California.
