LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE FEATURES)--Sept. 29, 2000 At 5:00 AM, Friday, September 29, the Logica yacht reached Boston after successfully completing the first leg of the BT Global Challenge 2000-2001 in seventh position. The yacht was at sea for 18 days and 18 hours. During this 3,200-mile leg from Southampton (England), the yacht was involved in several incidents that tested the crew's skills, nerve and stamina to the maximum and under the most challenging of conditions. The accident knocked them out of the running for a few days as they slipped back from middle of the fleet to 11th place. They quickly moved back up and fluctuated between fifth and third positions. Logica's trials were not over as the first storm of the Race hit the fleet, knocking them and Spirit of Hong Kong down. Two of Logica's crew received minor injuries and were confined to their bunks.
