Keane Federal Systems, a subsidiary of Keane, Inc. (AMEX: KEA), a leading business and information technology (IT) consulting firm, today announced that it has completed the development of the IMPACT Statewide Immunization Information System (SIIS) for the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). This web-based application provides physicians immediate access to the comprehensive vaccination histories of all Ohio residents.

The purpose of the system is to provide a single, comprehensive, reliable, and accessible source for the storage and maintenance of statewide immunization records. To accomplish this goal, Keane Federal Systems migrated the existing IMPACT SIIS system to a dynamic, web-based application. Working closely with a design group comprised of Ohio public health care workers, physicians, and medical assistants, Keane identified the functional requirements and designed a user interface for the daily tasks performed by physicians and other health care providers who administer vaccinations.

The system provides physicians with the complete vaccination history of all patients including adverse events, dates of last immunization, and missed vaccines. Patient records are updated real-time and personalized immunization reports are emailed directly to health care providers. Immunization reports are compiled online and vaccination scheduling is handled automatically through reminder notifications sent via email and U.S. mail. The system can also be easily adapted to include and track immunizations administered in response to a possible bio-terrorist threat.
