FEATURE/Gorham Chantilly celebrates a century this month.

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE FEATURES)--July 26, 1995--The country's most popular sterling silver flatware pattern marks its first century in less than a week.

Gorham's Chantilly passes its milestone on Sunday, July 30. On that date in 1895, the company's well-known silver designer, William Codman, was granted a design patent. But of the more than 50 flatware patterns Codman designed in his 23-year career at Gorham, this one has best stood the test of time.

The pattern was called Chantilly in honor of Louis XV's famous palace of the same name just northeast of Paris.

Even a century after it was first issued, the pattern continues to be Gorham's best-selling best·sell·er also best seller

Long a favorite of brides-to-be, and the family silver most often passed from mother to daughter, Chantilly is also the official flatware of Air Force One.
