Valentine's Day gift guide and will donate 5% of proceeds to military

scholarship fund

Many families and couples will be far apart this Valentine's Day, with current estimates indicating that over 120,000 troops will soon be stationed overseas in the gulf region.

Even though they cannot bring their servicemen and servicewomen home for the most romantic day of the year, many loved ones can use their Valentine's Day gifts to bring home a little closer to them.

To help bring military couples and families closer this Valentine's Day, FindGift.com, www.findgift.com, has added a special section to its website that recommends unique Valentine's Day gift ideas that can be delivered to overseas U.S. military addresses.

"We felt it necessary to add the 'Overseas Military' section based on the sign of the times," explains Bob Zakrzewski, co-founder of FindGift.com. "We've hand picked a number of excellent Valentine's Day gift ideas for our servicemen and servicewomen stationed overseas."

Recommended gift ideas include a "Personalized Message in a Bottle," which makes a fun gift for a loved one in the Navy, or the "Romeo Polo Bear," which includes the sender's personalized voice message. The sender calls a 1-800 number to record and review their message that will be placed inside the bear.

As part of their launch, FindGift.com will donate 5% of their total February revenue to the "Scholarships for Military Children" program which is administered for the Defense Commissary Agency by the Fisher House Foundation. This program was started in the Fall of 2000, with scholarships being open to qualified sons and daughters of active, reserve and retired U.S. military members. In its first two years, more than 900 students have received nearly $1.6 million in scholarship grants.

Their merchant partners are also joining the cause, offering special promotions for FindGift.com shoppers. Personal Creations, the retailer of the "Personalized Message in a Bottle," is offering a 15% discount on purchases sent to a military address. ConnectionChannel.com, the retailer of the "Romeo Polo Bear," is offering free shipping for gifts sent to a military address. Other special offers are shown in red under the gift recommendations.

To allow enough time for shipping overseas, gifts should be ordered at least 10 days prior to Valentine's Day.

"We may all differ on whether we support war," says Zakrzewski. "Though, hopefully we all agree to support the people who serve our country. These people have put their lives at risk to protect our way of life, and we have the greatest appreciation for them."
