BRECKENRIDGE, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 2003

Local skiers and snowboarders rejoiced this morning at the sight of fresh powder blanketing the peaks of Breckenridge, the sixth most popular ski resort in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  according to according to

The snowfall comes a day after SKI Magazine announced the results of its annual ski resort rankings in the "Top 60 Resort Guide." Breckenridge jumped up to the #6 spot from the #10 position last year.

"Breckenridge guests voted with their skis and snowboards last season," said Roger McCarthy, chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

. "People really enjoyed the 30-percent increase in intermediate trails on the new Peak 7 terrain," explained McCarthy.

The move to the #6 spot comes after major improvements were completed on the mountain in time for last season. As the second most visited resort in the U.S., Breckenridge was in need of more groomed, intermediate terrain. The new gladed, gently rolling terrain on the lower part of Peak 7 accomplished just that and the new six-passenger, high-speed Independence chairlift allows guests to maximize their time on the slopes.
