FEATURE/90% of nation's banks earn recommended rating.CORAL GABLES, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE FEATURES)--Sept. 1, 1995-- Bauer Financial Reports Inc., a research firm that specializes in evaluating the financial performance of banks, thrifts thrift: see leadwort. and credit unions, reports that 90.1% of the nation's banks and 75.3% of the nation's thrifts earned recommended ratings (five-stars or four-stars) based on financial data as filed with federal regulators for the period ended March 31, 1995 (the most recent available). Alaska was the only state to have all its banks on the recommended list while seven states, Arizona, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming have all their thrifts on the recommended list. Other notable data: 96.7% of Wisconsin's banks and 93.3% of its thrifts earned a recommended rating. Wisconsin has no troubled banks or thrifts. 96.6% of West Virginia's banks and 90% of its thrifts earned recommended ratings. West Virginia also has no troubled institutions. In addition, there are no troubled or problem institutions (2 stars or below) in the following states: Arkansas, Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, District of Columbia, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
