FDE colleges to dispatch relief goods for IDPs.
ISLAMABAD, 25 May, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- The relief goods collected by the students and teachers of educational institutions working under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) will be handed over to the displaced people in Mardan tomorrow (Tuesday). The relief goods will be handed over to the authorities in presence of Federal Minister of Education Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani. Director General FDE Malik Attiqur Rehman, Director Model Colleges Mujahid Zameer and other officials will be present on the occasion. The relief items which are gathered at Islamabad Model College for Boys F-8/4 will include sufficient quantity of rice, pulses, sugar, surf, soap, biscuits, fans, mattresses and match boxes besides cash. On the directives of Malik Attiqur Rehman, instructions were issued to all the institutes working under FDE to mobilise the students toward making contribution for empty handed displaced persons who were compelled to take refuge in different camps. The students as well as teachers of the colleges voluntarily offered their services in the collection of relief goods and contributed wholeheartedly for assisting their brothers and sisters in moment of crisis. Director Model Colleges, Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Mujahid Zameer talking to this news agency said that the educational institutions in federal capital are actively playing their role in relief activities for IDPs who have been dislocated from the areas of Swat and Buner. Whenever, any untoward situation occurs in the country, the students of schools, colleges and universities come forward with their support. The students of the colleges have collected relief items in a period of three days. FDE is extending its all out support for accommodating the displaced people and to bring normalcy in their lives. The directorate is accommodating the displaced children in the model colleges and F.G. colleges, providing them uniform, books and whatever item they need. The student registration process in institutes is underway. The students of English medium are being given admissions in the model colleges while students of Urdu medium are being adjusted in federal government colleges, he said.
