Cambex's reputation for quality and reliability and its product lines targeted at growth markets make it an ideal partner for FDC Technologies."

Cambex STOR/9021, Central and Expanded Storage for ES/9000 Summit Processors are universally compatible with all IBM 9021 models. "Government customers can now cost-effectively increase their Central or Expanded Storage, to improve application performance and thereby extend the life cycle of their mainframe," Kruy stated. Cambex has installed more than 300 billion bytes of STOR/9000 central and expanded storage.

The Centurion 2000, targeted primarily at large enterprise storage environments, is intended to offer users with large database applications a new standard in capacity, data availability, performance, connectivity and pricing. Based upon Cambex's original Array and Centurion products, among the earliest RAID disk arrays in the open systems market, the Centurion 2000 offers government users a combination of capacity, performance and availability characteristics unmet in today's large enterprise storage market. It incorporates RAID 0, 1, 3, 5 and 10 data protection and supports all major computing platforms, including IBM AIX (Advanced Interactive eXecutive) IBM's Unix-based operating system which runs on its Intellistation workstations and pSeries, p5, iSeries and i5 server families.  RS/6000 and SP2, Sun, HP, AT&T/NCR, Windows NT, and Novell Netware.

) software and Centurion Storage Manager maximize data availability and easy storage administration.

The Centurion 2000 subsystem not only protects data with a variety of RAID techniques, but it also provides Assured Availability through Cambex-developed Alternate Channel Failover software. The ACF package automatically insulates the total system from bus adapter, RAID controller, and cabling failures by sensing such failures and immediately reassigning traffic from a degraded path to one of the many redundant channels provided within the Centurion system. Cambex's ACF software, unmatched by any RAID vendor, enhances the reliability of the RAID environment while assuring optimal high availability of data, even when degradation or failure occurs. The Centurion Storage Manager is an easy-to-use GUI (Graphical User Interface) A graphics-based user interface that incorporates movable windows, icons and a mouse. The ability to resize application windows and change style and size of fonts are the significant advantages of a GUI vs. a character-based interface.  application which provides local and remote RAID group administration, regardless of host platform or array type. Multiple arrays on multiple hosts can be managed from a single console.

The Cascade XE cross-enterprise shared data storage system is a single storage unit for both mainframe and open systems environments. "Today a government customer is looking to add additional mainframe storage, but in the future may desire to migrate from their mainframe to open systems platforms. With Cascade XE, a customer only has to make the investment once. The Cascade XE is also an ideal solution for Year 2000 Projects when the user has the requirement to cost effectively replicate their mainframe storage but can move to open systems platforms at will," Kruy stated.

Frame relay usage is growing at a 50 percent annual rate as users improve wide area networking performance by replacing costly leased lines used in traditional SNA networks linked to large IBM and compatible mainframes. The Jupiter frame relay product line enables network users to operate an internetwork of both wide area and local area traffic on both private and public network facilities. The products support SNA/APPN, SDLC (Synchronous Data Link Control) The primary data link protocol used in IBM's SNA networks.
